Robotics and Motor Control Group

We seek to elucidate the motion planning strategies that underlie the generation of arm movements. A second focus of the research has been on motor learning and adaptation involving experimental measurements of human movements and modeling of the control strategies underlying adaptation to external loads. Other topics involve the development of models for the representation and modular organization of the motor control system, and studies of various movement disorders. In robotics, the focus is on learning to grasp and manipulate objects, visuomotor integration, and the control of dynamic tasks.
