Abstract: Monotone operator theory has been intensively developed
          with many applications to Nonlinear Analysis, PDE and
          Optimization. We intend to point out a recent application
          of monotonicity to Complex Analysis. This application
          involves the generation theory of one-parameter continuous
          semigroups of holomorphic mappings.
