The Weizmann Institute of Science Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science Computer Science Seminar Grzegorz Rozenberg Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) Leiden University The Netherlands and Department of Computer Science University of Colorado at Boulder will speak on DNA Computing in Vivo - Gene Assembly in Ciliates Abstract: DNA Computing is one of the new exciting developments in computing science. One branch of this area, DNA Computing in vivo, studies computational processes in living cells. In our lecture we will discuss the computational aspects of DNA processing in ciliates. Ciliates, a very ancient group of organisms, have evolved extraordinary ways of organizing, manipulating, and replicating the DNA in their micronuclear genomes. Especially interesting from the computational point of view is the process of gene assembly, which will be the subject of this lecture. The lecture is of a tutorial style. The lecture will take place in the Lecture Hall, Room 1, Ziskind Building on Monday, November 22, 1999 at 14:30
