THE 2000 OBERWOLFACH MEETINGS ON COMPLEXITY THEORY LACONIC and PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS OF ODED GOLDREICH A formal event worthwhile noting is the awarding of the Oberwolfach Prize to Luca (citing prominently Luca's work presented in the 1998 meeting). The meeting itself was quite dominated by the study of randomness extractors, with presentations by Ronen, Chris, David, and others. (Some non-experts felt that this was "too much", but I personally disagree and in general argue that such meetings merely reflect the reality (of the current interests and developments)). According to my recall, additional highlights of the meeting included -- Markus's lowerbound on Matrix Multiplication -- Uri's presentation of the approximation of min-Bisection -- Omer's presentation of the ZigZag Construction.
