The Foundations of Cryptography are the paradigms, approaches and techniques used to conceptualize, define and provide solutions to natural Cryptographic problems. Consequently, research in this area includes:

• The study of known paradigms (resp. approaches and techniques), directed towards a better understanding and utilization of the latter.
• Discovery of new paradigms (resp. approaches and techniques) that overcome inherent (or seemingly inherent) limitations of the existing paradigms.
• Formulation of new cryptographic problems and treating them using known or new paradigms (resp. approaches and techniques).

The list of faculty members that are actively interested in the Foundations of Cryptography includes Oded Goldreich, Shafi Goldwasser, Moni Naor, Omer Reingold, and Adi Shamir.
