Clinical Forum
Mission Statement

The Clinical Forum, which meets every 1-2 months in the Weizmann Institute, Rehovot is a place for knowledge sharing, brainstorming and research collaborations between SAMPL lab and researchers at Weizmann, with physicians from various medical centers in Israel.
The forum is hosted under the clinical arm of the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Signal Processing which is dedicated to technology advancement and data science for scientific discovery and clinical impact for the patients benefit. By bringing closer theoretical and clinical researchers and enabling knowledge sharing the center will promote better understanding of clinical needs and research support capabilities of both the scientific and the medical communities. The center will provide the infrastructure to enable teams of researchers and clinicians to work together in close proximity and will incentivize such collaborations with a focus on improving medical imaging and pathology.
The center structure includes two main branches - a theoretical research group and a clinical forum – with close interaction and cooperation.

Short term goals
  • Identify core areas of research that can have an immediate impact on patient care and understand clinical unmet needs.
  • Establish close proximity and strong foundation for collaborations between the researchers and the clinicians at both Weizmann and the hospitals.
  • Hosting fellows and residents to do their basic science project within the center.
  • Creating shared medical imaging databases accessible to all community members, enabling data sharing while maintaining the highest standard of data protection and anonymization.
  • Long-term goals
  • Developing tools for remote and ambulatory healthcare.
  • Providing new data to support diagnosis, improving image quality.
  • Development and use of portable and accessible imaging devices.
  • Reducing technician-dependency.
  • Develop ways in which to use artificial intelligence and deep learning in various aspects of the clinical flow in radiology and more general imaging.

  • Call for residents!

The Igel Manya Center for Biomedical Engineering and Signal Processing promotes research that is acknowledged as a work for basic science duty for residents. To learn more about our research projects headed by Prof. Yonina Eldar, SAMPL lab Weizmann Institute with collaborating PIs from various medical centers you are invited to contact Ronnie Rosen, Clinical Manager at SAMPL lab for more details, Ronnie.rosen@weizmann.ac.il.
