Cryptography at the Weizmann Institute

Cryptography deals with methods for protecting the privacy, integrity and functionality of computer and communication systems. The research activities on the area range from providing firm foundations to the construction of such methods to providing actual constructions for specific needs. Correspondingly, research in Cryptography varies from very abstract (or theoretical) to very applied (or concrete). The full range of these activities is represented in the Department of Computer Science at the Weizmann Institute of Science.

The list of faculty members that are actively interested in Cryptography includes Oded Goldreich, Shafi Goldwasser, Moni Naor, Omer Reingold and Adi Shamir. In particular, the research interests of Oded Goldreich and Omer Reingold in Cryptography lie in its theoretical aspects, whereas Shafi Goldwasser, Moni Naor, and Adi Shamir are interested in the full range of Cryptographic research.
